We just purchased the new album by Beats Antique! Great fucking Album! We first saw this group at Lightning in a Bottle 2008. (in case you have not heard LIB 2009 has been postponed, they are looking for a new location). Zoe Jakes was on stage and I was mesmerized. So mesmerized I came home and wrote this.

the sequel to 1 Giant Leap: What About Me

this past year I tried to do a screening of What About Me at burning man. as it goes, the playa was not quite ready to relax enough for the screen to get up. no worries! or if you are listening to our blip. “hakuna matata”

anyways, I am working on showing 1 Giant Leap and What About Me sometime in the next few months at the yogic lounge here in reno! Will be a fabulous way to spend time with friends and community.

On Friday February 13th, 2009Skin Graft Designs made it’s first appearance in Reno! Thanks to Champagne and Bacon!

Skin Graft Designs is a collaboration between Jonny Cota, Cassidy Haley, and Katie Kay. Some very talented artists. Both on stage, on stilts, and on the runway! As I sit here typing this post, I am still in awe by their work!

On thursday, upon arrival, the Skin Graft Design Crew arrived on the set of HOT SHOT after Dusk. @nopantsdance and I had just finished our show with HOT SHOT! We had such a fun time playing with HOT SHOT. When it came time for skin graft, we got to enjoy sitting back and getting to know more about them.

Did you know that Skin Graft is internationally distributed? That Jonny and Cassidy are both stilters, Jonny is a dj, and that Katie is a tribal belly dancer! (bohocrush would personally love to collaborate with them and create some whimsical pictures! someday we hope!) and that they all spend an enormous amount of time together (with few hugs!!!! ha ha) at their work place in LA! We also learned that just two days prior Skin Graft got on Twitter! While adding their profile, I quickly discovered that Jonny and Cassidy are both on twitter as well. And it seems that Katie controls the Skin Graft Twitter.

Skin Graft Checks out Neutron!

After our recording on HOT SHOT after Dusk, we all headed to neutron to check out the venue, and to figure out what and if any additional requirements would be needed for Skin Graft. Upon arrival Jonny mentioned how FUN the venue looked, and that he was really looking forward to presenting here! ELATED!!!!! Once the route for the fashion show was declared, spotlights set in place, and an overall sense of how things would be carried out, we all went on our own way. Katie had her fixings on the Peppermill, and @mrbacon is quite the hospitality host! The crew really needed to renourish and prepare for there long upcoming day! Trunk Sale and Fashion Show all in one day!

Reno

The task at hand for the arrival to Reno was only possible through the many collaborations of our magical community we are surrounded by!

In a nut shell: Kendra (@nopantsdance and I) teamed up with Champagne and Bacon to prepare for the arrival. In our adventures, Chocolate Walrus, The Melting Pot and The Yogic Lounge were brought in to help out with acquiring Clothing Racks and a putting on a featured Trunk Sale! Two amazing retailers here in Reno! Make sure you check out Chocolate Walrus and The Melting Pot when you are in reno! Big thanks to the Yogic Lounge! It takes community!!! We are so thankful for their love!

We prepare for Skin Graft: The Runway

A group of models needed to be wrangled up: I knew from the beginning that there was no way that I could have accomplished this on my own. I am so grateful for Kendra! She is really shining bright, and her talent, and organizing skills made it all possible. A few of the models had already been contacted, and once Kendra joined the efforts, she was able to finish out the group, and get all measurements and profiles sent to Skin Graft so that the crew knew who they would be working with once they arrived. In the meantime, I was coordinating the burlesque troupe, and figuring out how to accommodate the fashion show!

One Magical Night!

**I of course found out two days prior that I was losing my emcee for the burlesque and fashion show. NO worries, I decided to take the stage! (it was a blast by the way! and I am looking forward to many more opportunities on the stage)**

The fashion show was spectacular! I was blown away by the magnitude and the beauty of the designs! I had no idea what to expect, and I must say that I truly appreciate when somebody delivers way more than I could ever understand! This line is amazing!!! I am hoping our new camera (still minus the flash that broke) was able to get some decent pictures! We also captured some video! As soon as we get them out, we’ll post for you on this blog!

They presented a total of 16 looks! I was super amazed at how quickly, and efficiently they were able to get the models changed and into the new look! I’ve never seen a fashion show run so efficiently ever before!

I had one of the best seats in the house, on stage! right next to the catwalk! ha ha!! I am grateful!

Okay, we first saw them vending at Lightning in a Bottle! ha ha! And we are looking forward to seeing them again this year at LIB 2009!

It’s been 5 years since “Elucidation of Sorrow” came out! Which by the way has given me plenty of time to tell just about everybody I know about Random Rab! Of course now, I will continue to make sure that everybody in the universe knows about him. If you would like to follow more intimately the adventures of rab, I recommend adding his blog to your google reader.

When we are truly inspired by an artist, there is no telling what might happen! Or just how far we’ll go to make sure to share them with everybody we know!

“The Riddle” first grabbed my attention on a playlist that shone had created many years ago! So of course, Shone really needs to take the credit for sharing Rab with me! Our “family” member Krish told him about Rab. It’s amazing how much power that word of mouth really has! It carries for a lifetime!

Shone and I had the pleasure of meeting Rab here in Reno. I have to admit, he was the first person in my life, that I got so giddy and nervous around! Shone literally had to drag me over to where he was standing! I know!!! crazy right!!! I just did not know how to approach him without blurting out garbly words and silliness instantly! ha ha!!! But still, I garbled :). This girl just can’t help herself.
