Tonight I made quinoa patties with “mayonnaise” and a side of sauteed kale! Wow!
Here is one thing I can tell you, to me trying out a new recipe is like trying out a new sexual position. I’m not sure exactly what I am doing, I sometimes make a bigger mess than I usually do, and it’s really useful having something (or somebody) guide me or tell me what to do. There is always a time in life to be a leader, and a follower
.
Have fun with it, enjoy the experience, take mental notes, and check your improvements next time.
I found a few recipes of quinoa patties via my pinterest. I kept thinking to myself, well, what should I make them with? I want some new experiences with food this year. So I have to reach out and try new things more often. I remember sitting at the desk yesterday after I had just ate this meal, and I got inspired by a recipe that came up on my pinterest feed. I am a foodie, and I do think that proper preparation creates better results. Poached eggs on a quinoa pattie. Win!
I learned how to make pretty poached eggs when Jillian Ann stayed with us for a month while she worked on music. I knew exactly what I was going to do. The quinoa recipe however called for parmesan cheese and bread crumbs. I made a substitution:
For parmesan cheese: I substituted finely ground raw cashews with a garlic clove. It’s a raw food recipe I discovered a time back.
For bread crumbs: I substituted medium sized ground walnuts (I was going to add braggs to make it more cohesive, and will do the next time around) I learned this technique from another raw food recipe I have.
Everything else is in the recipes that I will link to. I love to show the love for others sharing their spectacular love.
I plated with the sauteed kale, added a quinoa pattie, placed the poached egg slightly nestled on the quinoa, and added my mayonnaise on top of the poached egg. Served with a couple slices of avocado. Sarah and Shone were so pleased and satisfied with this meal.
Tomorrow I bartend from 2-10pm at St. James Infirmary. I’m going to get some spinach and some yummy ciabbata and make a quinoa burger!
I am one person who LOVES leftovers. I’ll turn the oven on and heat the patties up!
then in my belly they go.
Stop by tomorrow night for glass of wine or a yummy craft beer.

p.s. I rocked out to Flight of the Concords, giggled and had great laughs while I prepared. I wonder what they are up too!
