we love adventures, and we love sharing them!
2009 is a big and happy year! We have called out Cloud 9! A year all about, enjoyment, inspiration, sharing and connection! I’m getting excited thinking about all of the preparations we need to take on to prepare for the festival season! Woohoooo!!! We have our eyes and goals on three festivals this year. Two revisited and one new one!
This post will feature: Lightning in a Bottle (stay tuned for the other two)
Lightning in a Bottle 2009: May 22nd-May25th: Location is just about ready to be announced! Although if you have been following @thedolab on twitter or flickr, you might have seen something like this. Soon we will know the location!!!
p.s: random rabs new album comes out FEB 14th!
This will be our third year at Lightning in a Bottle. It is magical. It’s a large collection of artists! All under a sustainable and super loving and beautiful organization. The Do Lab is TITS! Seriously! Have you been to one of their functions yet? Why not? Put it on your wish travel list right now.
You’ll be happy when you do! (check out this upcoming event) I listen to the playlist over and over and over again!
In the meantime we have lots to prepare for! May is not too far away, and we all know how it creeps up on us so quickly! We need to start saving, and I probably need to pick up a couple of extra shifts at the bar!
What we need to purchase:
This year we are purchasing a new tent. One that we will use for all festivals! We discovered it last year at LIB 2008. One of our campmates had it! It’s incredible.
The reviews are spectacular! And from our up close experiences from LIB 2008 and Burning man 2008, we know it’s a winner! It’s amazing how well it works. Seeing is Believing!!!
I have always wanted to set up a moroccan style tent, with pillows, and rugs, and such. I am really looking forward to creating a nest in our new tent! We need a cozy, sexy place, where we can stay optimal, and still get some work done! The computers are always by our side. We get to create a comfy nest for them too!
It’s all about following your bliss and the get too’s!
**if you have any pillows or cushions that you might want to donate
we will gladly appreciate it!
Preparations:
Are you preparing? Gathering your sleeping gear, your festival clothes, costumes, dancing shoes, camel packs, sigg water bottles? I still have my lightning in a bottle canteen I got last year! The new sigg bottle I won from Compete to Conserve is now Shone’s!
Survival Guide: check out this survival guide I wrote for last year’s festival! PLEASE ADD anything you wish to recommend!
need some costume ideas?
check out this: wandlung creations
or come to our show at neutron feb 13th! skin graft designs is in the house!
**I like to wear all kinds of stuff. Keep in mind at night it gets super cold, and when it rains, it’s good to be prepared. I always make sure to bring an assortment, and back-ups! Try to pick a few items that are super in warm weather, those that are super in cold weather, and from our experiences last year, have a poncho or rain coat available!
Comforts:
The best way to navigate a festival is to think about a few comforts that you can create, so that you can establish some sort of comfort, and thus get the most out of your experience!
1. We like to bring those hand and foot warmers, we put them in the sleeping bag by our feet, so that we have something warm to cling to when we first get in the sleeping bags! It’s amazing! We get them from REI.
2. Last year there were fresh organic meals for breakfast lunch and dinner! Even some raw food!!! I am hoping that these vendors set up in the new location. With that said, we will still bring our own coconut water, some fruit, and some treats that help make the experience all warm and fuzzy!
** Remember, you always eat less at a festival, so don’t over prepare and get too much. It’s so sad to see so much food go to waste.
What else? What else would you like to know? Or is there anything that you would like to share? I’ll keep you updated when things start rolling, like location, line-up, etc. If you would like to join our group at LIB this year, I gladly welcome you to sign up (it’s FREE) for planetboho. Look for the LIB group. Last year I coordinated people from SF, LA, and Reno to LIB! 22 people in all! It was spectacular!
Looking forward to another magical adventure. this year in the meadow!
