101 things you can do with coconut oil! a group perspective

for those of you who have or for those of you who have not: let’s talk about coconut oil. there are so many benefits, that we can talk for a lifetime!

so as you know, I am a super nerd, I LOVE all things natural and well being for body, mind, spirit! I am a super interested in learning and maintaining and keeping my skin and health as happy as can be!

1. coconut oil is a healthy saturated fat, want to disagree, then do your research :)

2. coconut oil is a natural anti-bacterial anti-fungal oil

3. coconut oil is a carrier oil for our skin oil sebum: there is only one other oil that I know of and that is jojoba oil. you see, there are lots of products out on the market……lots of lotions, and such that claim to hydrate and such. but you need to know this. if they don’t have a carrier oil, they cannot cross the cell membranes and transport across. ;) don’t be fooled by all of the products that simply evaporate on your skin, and never do a thing for you. besides, if something is good enough to eat, shouldn’t it be good enough for your skin, and vice versa?

4. coconut oil and your thyroid gland love to hang out and stay in touch. coconut oil helps our thyroid out so much!

5. coconut oil smells good, tastes good, and washes out of your bedding!

6. I love to use it as a lubricant when I need it ;) and because it’s anti bacterial and fungal, helps keep all of your intimate parts clean.

7. coconut oil is great friends with collagen as well. they really like to hang out together! helps improve the quality of your tone and fluidity of your skin.

8. coconut oil is a great oil to cook with. most oils when heated over a temperature become carcinogenic. but guess what, coconut oil is a very stable oil, and will not destruct! ;)

9. coconut oil is great for scalp massages and your hair! oh boy does my hair love it!

10. coconut oil is great for massages! you really can go right into a happy ending! ask shone! ;)

11. coconut oil is great to eat everyday! 1-2 tblspoons a day! you can add it right into your smoothies!

12. I use it in place of salad dressings when I want some new flavors. oh it is delicious! watch out, you might become just as addicted to coconut oil as me!

13. dry skin brushing and coconut oil are all you need, wether at home or traveling ;) reduces the amount of products you need to have. saves room and reduces your load when traveling.

14. you can use coconut oil to diffuse and use other natural oils.

15. you can soak in a hot bath with coconut oil. ;) becareful of anything you add, the hot water and carrier properties of the coconut will deliver any and all things to your skin. think it through. ;) use natural happy ingredients, and not processed store bought perfumes and such. ;) p.s. never worry about a yeast infection from baths again!

16. *have heard that coconut oil might not work too well with condoms because of the natures of ingredients in condoms. ;) do your research well if you use condoms. have also heard reports of coconut oil helping with viruses: can somebody add in info about it’s use in AIDS research?

17. coconut oil goes good with any meal! experiment, practice, play, and have FUN!

18. make sure it’s cold pressed organic coconut oil. don’t get duped by the generic!!!!!

19. coconuts are natural and from planet earth!

  • Sassy here. In response to this question:

"have also heard reports of coconut oil helping with viruses: can somebody add in info about it’s use in AIDS research?"

Here's what The Coconut Oil Miracle by Bruce Fife, C.N., N.D., has to say about the subject...

"There is little monetary incentive for pharmaceutical companies to fund research on a natural, readily available substance that they cannot protect with a patent and charge exorbitant prices for. Currently, the cost of standard medications for one person to control HIV can reach over $15,000/year. If all the hundreds of thousands of people who are infected by this virus spend anywhere near this amount, you can easily see the enormous amount of money the pharmaceutical companies pull in.

"A recent study from Johns Hopkins University showed that the number of individual viruses in the person determines the degree to which the virus can be passed on to others. The study found that someone with 200,000 virus copies (individual viruses per mm of blood) is 2.5 times more likely to spread HIV than someone with only 2,000 copies. The researchers found no transmission of the virus at all by infected people who carried less than 1,500 copies of the virus.

"Some researchers recommend that HIV-infected individuals consume the equivalent of 24-28 grams of lauric acid a day in order to significantly reduce their viral load. This would amount to about 3 1/2 Tablespoons (50 grams) of coconut oil."

He then tells a story about a man whose viral load was over 600,000. He'd lost a lot of weight and had no energy, feeling worse with each passing day. Knowing he was going to die, he prepared everything for his funeral and went for one last vacation to the jungles of South America. He stayed among a group of Indians, where he ate the same food as the natives. Every morning he was served a dish of cooked coconut. The Indian chief told him they base all their medicines on the coconut, eating it every morning to help prevent illness.

After a short time, his strength and energy increased and he had gained 32 pounds. When he went in for his lab test, the results showed his viral load had plummeted to undetectable levels. The HIV virus was no longer measurable.

As you can imagine, he continues to eat cooked coconut for breakfast every day. ;O)

I highly recommend this book. It's chock full of faaaantastic information about the many benefits of coconut oil.

    Hugs!

  • Sassy and I use coconut oil every day on our skin and food. It's a great substitute for butter or soy based butters! Spread it on your face and your toast (with almond butter - yum). Add a tablespoon to your hot chai tea.

We get ours from Whole Foods - the brand name is Jungle and it's organic.

If you or anyone you know deals with psoriasis, excema, or any other dry-skin-like problems, apply coconut oil after every shower before the area can dry. Watch all the symptoms disappear quickly and you may find the trouble area improve over time.

Thanks, Georgette, for sharing this. Sassy and I love to learn about healthy stuff, and you are obviously well educated on this topic too. The medical establishment doesn't like to educate the public on inexpensive natural things that promote health, and so we really need to take care of each other. We've studied coconut oil quite a bit over the past year, and it truly is a remarkable and vital food and skin care product that is easy to find and very cheap for all it has to offer.
